  5. WJEC/EDEXCEL PARTNERSHIP (developing the first lines of the diploma) • IT, Engineering, Construction & Built Environment • WJEC developing Creative And Media • WJEC developing Society, Health And Development • Aim to be available for September 2009 • Remaining 9 lines for 2010

  6. As appropriate parts of the Welsh Baccalaureate Core can be achieved through the Principal Learning/ Project e.g. WRE - work experience & enterprise activity KEY SKILLS WEW/PSE

  7. Project / Extended Project Assessment Objectives • Manage • Use Resources • Develop and Realise • Review Can be: Dissertation/Report Artefact Performance Design Field Study Level 1 and 2: 60 GLH ( = short course GCSE) Extended Project: 120 GLH ( = ½ A Level)

Project / Extended Project • Can be used as a proxy for the Individual Investigation provided it meets Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification requirements Learners taking current options within the WBQ e.g. GCSE/GCE/NVQ/BTEC etc can also opt to do the Project/Extended Project • The Project/Extended Project can also be taken as a stand alone qualification outside of WBQ

CANDIDATE DIARIES (Applying to Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced LevelS)  Candidates beginning their Welsh Baccalaureate programmes from September 2008 must use the candidate diary produced by WJEC.  Candidates who began their Welsh Baccalaureate programmes before September 2008 may use either those produced by WJEC, or centre produced candidate diaries approved by WJEC. The candidate diary can be found on the teacher’s section of the Welsh Baccalaureate website.

  11.  Must pursue all six key skills at each level Key Skills usually contextualised, taught and developed through WBQ core and options

  12. APPLYING TO ADVANCED LEVEL  Candidates may substitute a qualification in A Level Computing or ICT at Grade E or above for the Level 3 key skill requirement in ICT.  Candidates may substitute a qualification in GCSE ICT at Grade C or above for the Level 2 key skill requirement in ICT.

  13. APPLYING TO THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL  Candidates may substitute a qualification in GCSE Computer Studies, ICT or Information Systems at Grade C or above for the Level 2 key skill requirement in ICT.  Candidates may substitute a qualification in GCSE Computer Studies, ICT or Information Systems at Grade E or above for the Level 1 key skill requirement in ICT.

  14. APPLYING TO THE FOUNDATION LEVEL Candidates may substitute a qualification in GCSE Computer Studies, ICT or Information Systems at Grade G or above for the Level 1 key skill requirement in ICT.

  15. ‘Welcomes breadth of education and learning experiences’ UCAS MARCH 08 UK FIGURES Courses with acceptability information = 20,881 Acceptable on own = 16,069 Acceptable in comb = 4,659 Not acceptable = 153 ‘WBQ provides exellent preparation for success in HE.’
