  2. The 5 Functions: 1. Skeleton gives us structure and support 2. Skeleton protects the internal organs 3. Skeleton provides a place for muscles to attach 4. Red blood cells are made inside bones in tissue called marrow 5. Skeleton stores compounds such as calcium and phosphorus

  3. Structure and Support

  4. Protection

  5. bone.html Parts of Bone 1. Periosteum 2. Compact (hard bone) 3.Cancellous (spongy) bone 4. Bone marrow

  6. Draw the bone and label the parts

  7. 206 bones make up your skeleton system. Bones contain minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. These help give bones their strength.

  8. The_Muscular_System.asf Muscles attach to the skeleton

  9. Muscle Action in the Skeletal System Working in opposing pairs, muscles serve to move the bones. Bones are connected to muscles by thick bands of connective tissue, known as tendons. When muscles contract (become shorter) and relax ( become longer), they pull on the bones making movement occur.
