Goals • Knowledge portal for the print and media industry that offers new opportunities for qualification • Use of web 2.0 technologies to create the knowledge transfer in a eventful and interactive way • Central industry platform for information, qualification and cooperation, quality assured by experts • Funding period until March 31, 2011

  3. Project Partners • Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin • Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften - Fachhochschule München (HM) • Institut für Medien und Kompetenzforschung (MMB), Essen • Zentral-Fachausschuss BerufsbildungDruck und Medien (ZFA), Kassel

Activities • Create your own study groups and engage in discussion with peers, • Visit virtual seminars with e-trainers as tutors, • Share ideas and professional advice with like-minded people through interest groups, • Look up professional content in a constantly growing online lexicon, • Contribute to the creation of professional tutorials, • View videos and animations • And consult experts in live chats.

Prospective Content I • Industry Wiki and Lexicon • Extensive and lively knowledge forum for the entire industry (First wiki „Exam preparation forvocationaleducation (Mediengestalter Digital/Print)“ is currently tested in a field test) • Trainer Community • Place for supervisors, teachers and trainers to exchange and discuss learning materials. • Knowledge Map • Provides an overview of professional content and resources of the print and media industry in Germany

Prospective Content II • E-Learning Modules • For different levels (vocational school, technical school, University of Applied Sciences, further education) including support through an online-tutor • First Module „printcalculations“ in progress • Further topics: media projectmanagement, database-driven media production • Media-Open-Courses • Virtual study groups which can use all „Social Software"-Modules developed during the project • Media-Open-Campus • Podcast library (Audio und Video) on topics related to the print and media industry, i.e. typographie

Status • All employees on board since February 2009 • www.mediencommunity.de with 350 members and first discussions • Let`s go online: • Relaunch in Summer – new tools will be included step by step • „wild cats“ – innovative persons start a project by using our technical platform – and we will learn about sucess factors and reasons for failures.

Cooperation Opportunities • Glossary planned to be translated at least in English • Sharing of E-Learning modules, casts, etc. • Exchange forum for international training and educational opportunities • Cooperation through exchange of teaching concepts within trainer community • Knowledge transfer for building an open-source community platform
