  2. The spirit leaves the body I like this sequence because as soon as I saw it I realized its like a short story. The effects on here were amazing showing the soul leaving the human body. The set up scene makes it looks dark. Michals used multiple exposures to make it happen.

  3. “Things Are Queer” Michals not only voices his frustration with the expressive limitations of the isolated photograph, but makes us realize that it is in our power as viewers to bring alive through the application of fantasy. I like this because it’s the wanderings of his own mind and each work prompts us to dream our own dream. Joseph Cornell, 1972: the way I see this picture is that Michals uses a good side light with the person standing. The window gives it a really bright look and stands out. To me its interesting that the shadow makes it look like half a person. Not too dark and even lighting.

  4. “Chance Meeting” He presents a sequence of images that are like stills from a filmed narrative pregnant with tense expectation. Even without the benefit of an ominous soundtrack, there is a frisson of impending violence and the ever present threat of unknown dangers and misfortunes that can deprive one forever of Health, Happiness and one’s very existence. In my view, this looks like a movie scenario of two men in the ghetto of New York city doing some sort of negotiation. Anybody can have a different scene to this work.

  5. “BY, BYE, BUY” Duane Michals also does his over painted photography. In this photo it has the two words of “By” and “Two” written differently in also different meanings. Very creative in my point of view and has become a favorite of mine. Light and bright colors give it a stand out look! Artistic detail was included and good shadowing with the Black and White.

  6. I Build a Pyramid

  7. The Fallen Angel

  8. Prime avera

  9. Paradise Regained

  10. To this day Duane Michals has an impact on many other artists influencing them and continuing his work with many exhibitions all over the world with his imagination.
