Visual Arts Standards: • 2.1 Create original works of art of increasing complexity and skill in a variety of media that reflect their feelings and points of view. • 2.4 Demonstrate in their own works of art a personal style and an advanced proficiency in communicating an idea, theme, or emotion.

  3. Vocabulary: • Slab construction = using flat sheets of leather hard clay to build 3-dimensional forms

  4. Lesson Objectives: All students will exhibit mastery in… • Slab construction • Working with a theme • Creating significant detail in clay

  5. Materials: Clay, clay tools, slab roller, low-fire earthen ware glazes

  6. Project Requirements: • Main construction method is slab • House has a specific theme (such as Halloween, Christmas, farm animals, Pop Art, etc.) • Has significant detail (such as door, roof tiles, flower boxes, etc.) • Cut out windows (we will put lights in the houses) • Minimum 6” tall

  7. Due Dates: • Tag board mock-up (worth 20 points): Friday 10/12 • Greenware (worth 20 points): Tuesday 10/23 • Finished project (worth 100 points, following Advanced 3-D Art rubric): TBD
