Microsoft Confidential 17 Visual Studio 2010 can help software development teams make immediate improvements in how they integrate across functions, reduce waste, identify and communicate problems, plan, and take action to mitigate issues to ensure they are solving the business problem and achieving customer expectations. A customer may be interested in any one or all of the primary benefits of adopting an application lifecycle management solution:   Adopt Agile Practices: An efficient process can streamline collaboration and reduce wasted efforts in all phases of the lifecycle—from development to operations—to improve visibility and interactivity across the team. Ensure Quality Early & Often: Application quality should be monitored throughout the lifecycle, not just at the end. The rising complexity of applications requires development and testing teams to work closely together. Visual Studio stands apart from other tools with capabilities that enable agile testing. Move to a Modern ALM Platform: To break down silos, teams require a shared collaboration infrastructure. A modern ALM platform helps teams deliver value to the customer while leveraging earlier tool investments.   When customers purchase Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN and make use of accompanying test tools, as well as Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010, they have a solution that fully supports Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). A common ALM foundation provides: Increased visibility into the lifecycle Common process High fidelity and rich interactions Support up and down stream processes Support for the tools users want to use (including cross-platform support)  For more information on ALM, please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/alm.Visual Studio 2010 can help software development teams make immediate improvements in how they integrate across functions, reduce waste, identify and communicate problems, plan, and take action to mitigate issues to ensure they are solving the business problem and achieving customer expectations. 22. The Visual Studio 2010 family is made up of a central team server, and a small selection of client-side tools. The team server—Team Foundation Server 2010—is the backbone of your application lifecycle management… <CLICK> …providing capabilities for source control management, (SCM), build automation, work item tracking and reporting. In this release we’ve expanded the capabilities of Team Foundation Server by adding a true test case management system… <CLICK> …and extended it with Lab Management 2010—a set of capabilities designed to better integrate both physical and virtual labs into the development process. We’ve heard your feedback as well, and we have made it to be easier to set-up and maintain Team Foundation Server—in fact it can be installed, configured and ready to use in as little as 20-minutes. <CLICK> On the client-side we have reduces the complexity of or IDE offerings. For developers, you can choose between Visual Studio 2010 Professional, Premium or Ultimate, with each subsequent product containing all of the features of its predecessor. For testers and business analysts we are introducing Test Professional—a new integrated test environment designed with manual testers in mind. <CLICK> For those people who participate in the development efforts, but for whom Visual Studio—the IDE—is not appropriate, including Java developers, project managers and stakeholders the Team Foundation Server extensibility model enables us to provide alternative interfaces. These include both Team Explorer—a standalone tool built with the Visual Studio shell—and Team Web Access. These tools enable anyone to work directly with Team Foundation Server. In October we announced the acquisition of Teamprise, a technology similar to Team Explorer for the Eclipse IDE on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and other Unix-based operating systems. That technology has been incorporated into the Visual Studio 2010 product line, and we will be announcing how we are productizing it very soon. The most important thing to know is that we will be releasing a Teamprise-based product, and it will also be included as an MSDN benefit for Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate customers. <CLICK> Of course we are continuing our cross-product integration capabilities with Microsoft Office® and Microsoft Expression. We have improved integration between Team Foundation Server and SharePoint Server with new SharePoint dashboards, and we have a new set of capabilities that make SharePoint development much easier than in the past. Across the board the features and capabilities we built into Visual Studio 2010 are a result of the great feedback we have gotten from our customers. This release continues our commitment to enabling you, our customers, to build the right software, in the right way to ensure success for your business. 23. Nuestra solución ayuda a responder These are common concerns and fortunately these can be answered by adopting Visual Studio! From the customer’s perspective, knowing the answers to these questions could make the difference between success and failure for their projects. Note: There are dozens or more reasons why a project fails. These may include late requirements that cause the project to restart, changes in business priority, poor quality implementation that causes rework, ship-stopping bugs discovered late in the cycle, or simply getting to the end of the project’s timeline before you’ve implemented enough code to meet the requirements. Visual Studio won’t fix those issues! In the Visual Studio Telesales Discussion Guide, you will find more information about customer concerns, as well as case study evidence that illustrates how Visual Studio 2010 solved common concerns. These are common concerns and fortunately these can be answered by adopting Visual Studio! 24. Escenarios de ventas Microsoft Confidential 24 When you call a customer, you may find various situations: they have Visual Studio, or a competitive product, or no tools at all. We’ve not exhausted all the various sales scenarios that you might encounter but these are the primary scenarios (and several are supported by a specific offer). Before you call the customer, review the records to determine which scenario you might encounter. Targeting information is provided below. Note: More detail on each of these scenarios can be found in the Visual Studio Telesales Discussion Guide. Renew-Up Help your customers realize how much they would lose by not renewing up at the level they’ve been granted through the Ultimate Offer. The Renew-Up scenario applies to customers who were upgraded to a higher level when Visual Studio 2010 was released. Note: The Ultimate Offer was extended to Visual Studio customers when Visual Studio 2010 was launched. Customers received an upgrade to Visual Studio one level above their current product at no additional charge. Visual Studio Professional customers received Visual Studio 2010 Premium with MSDN and Visual Studio Premium customers received Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN. Associated Offer: As VL customers’ agreements come up for renewal, they need to decide whether they maintain SA on the level of Visual Studio that they were upgraded to at the launch of Visual Studio 2010. If they choose to stay at the same level, they simply pay SA. If they renew down, they forfeit the use of any software that’s included at the level they’ve renewed from but is not included in their new level. Target Customers: Expiring agreements in FY12 MSDN Attach Drive new ALM sockets in advance of Visual Studio vNext launch by “attaching” MSDN to L-only Visual Studio Professional or Premium customers. The MSDN Attach scenario applies to customers who do not currently have MSDN benefits. Selling MSDN subscriptions can secure future revenue for our server products because they can more easily build applications on the Microsoft platform. Associated Offer: Visual Studio Professional with MSDN L&SA SKUs discounted by 35%. Visual Studio Premium with MSDN L&SA SKUs discounted by 15%. Good through October 1, 2011 – March 31, 2012 Target Customers: Customers who have L-only Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010 Professional, Premium, or Ultimate. SQL Server and SharePoint Server Attach These scenarios apply to customers who either have existing licenses or who are in the process of buying licenses. Your call objective is to sell new Visual Studio licenses with MSDN, which in turn can secure future revenue for our server products because they can more easily build applications on the Microsoft platform. The idea behind this effort is that the customers who are already using (or will be using) Microsoft technology platforms will be more likely to use/purchase developer tools for the purpose of more fully utilizing their Microsoft platform. This strategy has had proven success with the Light Up SharePoint Roadshow in Europe and the Build a Better App campaign in DPE. Target Customers: Customers who have purchased or are purchasing SQL Server or SharePoint Server licenses Test & QA Attach Visual Studio Test Professional 2010 to licenses of Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, Visual Studio 2010 Premium, or Visual Studio 2010 Professional. With Visual Studio Ultimate, developers get Test Professional, but since it is a per-user license, it doesn’t imply that the testers in the organization have Test Professional. With Visual Studio Professional or Visual Studio Premium, developers do not get Test Professional as part of their MSDN subscriptions, and if developers do the testing they will need separate licenses of Test Professional, as will the testers in the organization. Target Customers: Customers who have Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, Premium, or Professional Visual Studio along with 2010 Team Foundation Server and who have a QA process but inadequate tools. Deployment Planning Services Help customers learn what it takes to deploy the product in their organization. For customers who have purchased Visual Studio but have not deployed it. Customers can use their Software Assurance benefits to pay for a qualified partner to develop a comprehensive deployment plan: Software Assurance customers are allocated points for SA licenses (Open, Select, and EA). Customers redeem those points for Deployment Planning Services with a qualified partner. Microsoft pays the partner a fixed rate based on number of days. May be used for: Visual SourceSafe to Team Foundation Server 2010 migration planning Team Foundation Server 2010 deployment planning Test Professional 2010 deployment planning Also, customers can use their Software Assurance Training Vouchers to receive instructor-led technical training from a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions (CPLS). Developed by Microsoft experts, these in-depth courses are designed to help IT staff deploy, manage, and support new software.
