  1. Let’s Be Archeologists!! Created by Mrs. Hicks

  2. What do archeologists do? Thanks to archeologists, we know about animals that lived in the past, we know how people lived long ago, and we can understand how the earth has changed.

  3. How deep does he dig? Archeologists understand that there are layers of earth from different times in history. So they know how deep to dig for the time in history that they need to find.

  4. How do archeologists do that? Using a shovel, a brush, and lots of patience, the archeologist digs into the earth to find fossils and artifacts from long ago.

  5. What does he do then? By dividing the area into squares, called a grid, he records what he finds in which grid. That helps him figure out where the people ate or slept.

  6. What does he do with the things he finds? Like this mastodon tusk, many of the things they find end up in museums. But that is only after archeologists have studied the items to know for sure what they are.

  7. Thanks, Archeologists! Because of archeologists, you know much more about the the world from long ago, which can help us understand our world better too!
