  2. What is a Main Idea? A paragraph has 2 main parts: 1) The main idea expressed in topic sentence. 2)Additional sentences providing supporting details.

  3. Instructions: Students will be broken up into groups and take turns identifying the main idea from the paragraph. There will be 20 seconds to decide on the answer. The student has the first 10 seconds to find the answer on his own and then the next 10 seconds with help from his/her teammates (if needed). The teacher will notify you when the time is up. The teacher will then select the answer. Correct answers are +1 point and incorrect answers are -1 point. The group with the most points at the end of the game wins.
