NM Charter Schools - Entrepreneurs Closing the Achievement Gap Summary: • NM Public Education Commission (PEC) and local districts are charter authorizers • Media Arts Collaborative Charter School • Consortium information, resources, standards, updates sent statewide to NM’s 63 charter schools, 89 districts, NM ctso project, and Regional Educational Centers • All constituents encouraged to participate and report to the Consortium for entrepreneurship week

Charter Schools - Entrepreneurs Closing the Achievement Gap Activities/Outcomes: • CSD - monthly technical and funding assistance that addresses all aspects of opening and operating the charter school entrepreneurial venture. • Consortium resources and information shared with schools; entrepreneurship education integration in charters’ specialized curricula/programs. • Lead SBDC in Santa Fe and CSD - collaboration activities to provide “up-front” technical assistance to prospective charter school applicants to improve their application submissions, entrepreneurial skills, knowledge, and opening and operational “business” needs. • Existing charter schools - to be surveyed in 2007-08 to assess current and/or planned entrepreneurship education efforts, courses, programs, activities. Site visits to include questions and observations related to entrepreneurship education activities/initiatives.
