  6. Using Perfect Tenses • The present perfect shows an action or condition that • was completed at one or more indefinite times in the past • The diver has used shark cages before. This time he has brought a new king along. • began in the past and continues in the present • He has waited in this cage for an hour to see a shark.

  7. Using Perfect Tenses • The past perfect shows that an action or condition in the past has preceded another past action or condition: • He had looked everywhere for a shark cage before he discovered Don’s.

  8. Using the Perfect Tenses • The future perfect shows that an action or condition in the future will precede another future action or condition: • Before the day ends, the shark will have eaten three divers.
