A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE UNITED NATIONS IN CAMBODIA The UN and Cambodia in the 1970’s: • Between 1975 and 1979, UN programmes in Cambodia were suspended • Early relief assistance began in 1979 (UNICEF and the ICRC coordinated the response) • UNDP, UNHCR, WFP, UNESCO and WHO contributed to these emergency relief operations

Cambodian Millennium Development Goals - CMDGs Rectangular Strategy Phase II National Strategic Development Plan 2009 - 2013 United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2011-2015 UNDAF Outcome 5: Social Protection By 2015, more people, especially poor and vulnerable benefit from improved social safety net (NNS) and social security programmes, as an integral part of a sustainable national social protection system UNDAF Outcome 4: Governance By 2015, national and subnational institutions are more accountable and responsive to the needs and rights of all people living in Cambodia and increase participation in democratic decision making UNDAF Outcome 3: Gender By 2015, all women, men, girls, and boys are experiencing a reduction in gender disparities and progressively enjoying and exercising equal rights UNDAF Outcome 2: Health and Education By 2015, more men, women, children and young people enjoy equitable access to health and education UNDAF Outcome 1: Economic Growth and Sustainable Development By 2015, more people living in Cambodia benefit from, and participate in increasingly equitable, green diversified economic growth UN Agencies in Cambodia Country Programme Action Plans (CPAPs), Biannual/Annual Work plans
