KOREN Network Service • IPv4/ATM - provides IP over ATM service • Native IPv6 - Dual stack of IPv4 and IPv6 - IPv4/IPv6 DNS service • Multicast - Multicast routing service to KOREN users • QoS - Offers a testing and engineering environment for QoS application • GRID - National GRID network backbone

APII Testbed Background • First proposed at the 12th APEC TEL WG(1995) jointly by Korea & Japan • Singapore declared full support for the APII Testbed project (1998) Objectives • To test interconnectivity and interoperability among the test-beds in Asia-Pacific region • To support joint R&D projects and application developments

  9. APII Testbed Korea - Japan • April 1998 : Opened the international link (2Mbps) • July 1997 : Upgraded the bandwidth to SCR 8Mbps / PCR 32Mbps • April 2003 : Expanded to 1Gbps • Traffic Status ( 1Gbps : 2003. 4 ~ ) ( 8Mbps : ~ 2003. 3 )

  22. Future Direction(3) Research Collaboration at the intra-Asia • Need to organize ‘Collaboration Team’ among Intra-Asian Countries • To set up the common policies for network • connectivity • To survey the potential projects in the region • To connect and upgrade research network B/W
