  3. Case Practice Model • The guiding principles and expectations of the Department of Children and Families. • Defines a strengths-based and family-centered model of practice. • Goal: to achieve safety, permanency, and well-being for children.

DCF Primary Outcomes and Core Values • Safety – Children are first and foremost protected from abuse and neglect • Permanency – Children do best in a permanent and stable family living situation • Well-Being – We will identify children’s needs and will promote their development, education, and health

  5. Guiding Principles • All efforts toward Safety, Permanency and Well Being are grounded in: • Family strengths and connections • Respect for culture and community • Non-discrimination in services • Appropriate and time-limited placements • Family team participation

  6. How DCF Works… • Quality investigation and assessment • Engaging youth and families • Working with family teams • Individualized planning and relevant services • Continuous review and adaptation • Safe and sustained transition from DCF involvement
