Tips to Preventing Spills • Cover drains in work area to stop spills from entering. • Use drip pans underneath work areas to catch spills. • Use drip pans every time spills are possible. • Drain wet parts on drip pans or racks. • Use funnels when filling all containers.   12. What to Do When Spills Occur • Quickly stop the source of the spill. • Prevent the spill from leaving the facility. Cover drains or block doorways. • Absorb the spill using a reusable material such as a mop & bucket or launderable rags. • Put spill materials in appropriate waste container for recovery if feasible. • Material that can’t be recovered -- Store labeled, sealed containers prior to disposal.
