Change in Latin America The U.S. in Latin America War of 1898-U.S. declares war on Spain after a series of incidents U.S. wins and obtains Puerto Rico as a territory, and Cuba as a protectorate U.S. supported Panama rebels in separating from Colombia U.S. gained a 10 mile strip to build the Panama Canal, finished in 1914 American interests protected….What are examples of American interests? Many began to resent the U.S. to the North
