HIGH PLAINS JUNIOR RODEO ASSOCIATION 269 Smith Ranch Road Hobbs, NM 88240 806.407.2611 HPJRA@yahoo.com On behalf of the Board of Directors of the High Plains Junior Rodeo Association, I want to introduce you to the 2013 edition of youth rodeo excellence – “fromGood to Great” … The board has taken many strides since the Finals Rodeo in July 2012, all in an effort to launch a better and more improved Association for the ultimate benefit of each member, including a guarantee of some $37,000 in added money! We want to see you participating in the HPJRA during 2013. As your new Executive Secretary, I can personally guarantee you the utmost in professionalism, integrity and efficiency. Together, with the foundation set forth by your Board, we can achieve so much in 2013. Let’s do it together!   3. 2013 Rule Changes ENTRY FEE REFUND ADD– Refund of Entry Fees: A contestant may drop out of any event due to injury to himself/herself or horse. A doctor’s or DVM’s release must be submitted prior to refund. The rodeo secretary must be notified before contestants performance begins. Once a contestant notifies the secretary that he/she is using a doctor/vet release, the contestant cannot compete for 12 hours. BOYS 10-12 GOAT TYING ADD– Piggin String Goat Tying as an event in the Boys 10-12 age division. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR DELETE– 6 & Under Rookie of the Year. REPLACE with all 6 & Under contestants who qualify, enter and compete at the Finals Rodeo will receive Rookie of the Year participation awards. 19 & UNDER SHOOT-OUT DELETE– 16-19 age division. REPLACE with 19 & Under Shoot-Out. 19 & Under Shoot-Out events to include Girls Barrel Racing, Girls Breakaway Roping, Boys Bull Riding, Boys Calf Roping and Boys/Girls Team Roping. 19 & Under events will be held at Sunday Performance only. Any qualified contestant can enter the 19 & Under Shoot-Out. No points in the 19 & Under Shoot-Out will count toward All-Around. No saddles will be awarded in the 19 & Under Shoot-Out. Year-End buckles will be awarded to the high point cowboy or cowgirl in each event. Non-members may compete at regular season events, but not at the Finals Rodeo. AGE GROUP MOBILITY ADD– A contestant will be allowed to move up one age group in a single event if that event is not offered in his/her age division. The potential points earned will not count toward All-Around points however the contestant will be eligible to earn event points and awards.

Membership. In 2013 the HPJRA Membership Dues will be $75/member, with $50/second member of the same household, $25/third and subsequent member of the same household. A 2013 Membership Application has been included in this mailer. All items on the Membership Application must be completed in order to become a 2013 HPJRA Member.   7. 2013 Rule Changes 19 & Under Shoot-Out The 19 & Under Shoot-Out Program has been revised for 2013 to include some $27,000 in Added Money! The 19 & Under Shoot-Out events will be held during the Sunday Performance of each regular season rodeo. Shoot-Out events include: Boys Bull Riding, Boys Calf Roping, Girls Barrel Racing, Girls Breakaway Roping, and Boys/Girls Team Roping. Each event will have $500 added money, with $1,000 in team roping, at each regular season rodeo. The added money will be doubled at “The Finale” – HPJRA Finals Rodeo. Mega Bounty Buck-Out $37,000 ADDED MONEY The HPJRA has added a Mega Bounty Buck-Out in 2013 – worth $10,000 in Added Money – for each rough stock event, per age division! A bounty animal will be drawn by the judges at each regular season rodeo. If the contestant who draws the bounty animal makes a qualified ride (regardless of placing) will earn a $100 cash bonus, PLUS qualify for the Mega Bounty Buck-Out Championship Performance to be held at “The Finale” – HPJRA Finals Rodeo. The Mega Bounty Buck-Out event held during “The Finale” will be ALL added money – NO ENTRY FEE! The Mega Bounty Buck-Out Program will not qualify for HPJRA Year-End Awards. A contestant can win multiple bounty pay-outs, whether a member or non-member, however will only have one (1) “bye” to the Mega Bounty Buck-Out Championship Performance. Only members can compete at “The Finale” Mega Bounty Buck-Out Performance. DELETE – 16-19 age division. REPLACE with 19 & Under Shoot-Out. 19 & Under Shoot-Out events to include Girls Barrel Racing, Girls Breakaway Roping, Boys Bull Riding, Boys Calf Roping and Boys/Girls Team Roping. 19 & Under events will be held at Sunday Performance only.
