  1. La pékin Cette poule de race naine est peut-être très ancienne, mais notre civilisation occidentale ne l’a vraiment reconnue ,en tant que race ,qu’à partir de la fin du XVIIIè siècle. Ce qui est certain, cette poule est descendante de la poule sauvage Bankiva , voici 2000 ans, il est bien évident que seule la civilisation chinoise , déjà soucieuse de raffinements, pouvait s’intéresser à de telles miniatures. Importée de Chine vers 1843 en Angleterre, améliorée et perfectionnée par les anglais et les américains . Il existe 24 variétés.
