Two Campuses one Mission • Chalon- campus sits within the Santa Monica mountains, and houses; -Baccalaureate degree programs • Doheny- campus is located near Downtown Los Angeles, once the historic Doheny Estate houses; - Associate degree programs - A.D.N - Master’s programs - MSN - Teacher’s credential - DPT -Weekend College

  7. Application Process • Traditional BSN • Complete Application • Essay • Personal statement- optional • One Academic Reference • Official college transcripts (from every college attended) • GPA- 2.7 Cumulative, 2.5 Science • 32 transferable units • Application fee: • $20- online application

Online Application • We only accept online applications • Go to www.msmc.la.edu • Click on Admissions • Nursing Transfer Student • Apply Online • Select the application for the BSN program The PDF of the application is able to be downloaded and printed from our website. The application fee if the PDF is submitted is $40.

International Transcripts • If you attended college outside the United States, you will need to submit: • A comprehensive international transcript evaluation • An official, foreign transcript • The recommended evaluation service is Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute www.acei1.com 800-234-1597

Transcripts • We will need official transcripts from all the colleges that you have attended, including: • Any community college attended • Any university attended • Foreign transcripts from study-abroad program • Official Transcripts from all foreign study • Transcripts from vocational program I.e. C.N.A, Massage, Phlebotomy, E.M.T • Transcripts for all courses completed prior to deadline (including the preceding Fall)

  13. Annual Costs for 2006-2007 Undergraduate Costs: Tuition and Fees $24,150 Room and Board $9,162 *excludes books, health insurance, and parking fees

  14. Applying For Financial Aid • Apply for financial aid at the same time you are applying for admission. • Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  21. Scholarships Merit Awards: Upon application to the Mount, you will be considered for a merit award based upon your academic achievement. Outside Scholarships: These funds are not associated with MSMC. Outside organizations award these funds to students and are coordinated with the student’s financial aid award.

  22. Stafford Loans • Subsidized Loans are need based loans. Government pays interest while student is in school. • Unsubsidized Loans are NOT need based. • Guaranteed & Deferrable

  24. Alternative Financing TMS payment plan (see business office for more information 310-954-4040). Private loans are credit based and sometimes require a credit worthy co-signer. Interest rates vary, depending on credit history.

ROY ADAPTATION MODEL • Developed by Sister Callista Roy CSJ, former chair of MSMC nursing department. • Used widely in the United States, Canada, Japan, and other countries. • The Roy adaptation model recognizes that a person is a bio-psycho-social-spiritual being in constant interaction with a dynamic and complex world.

  28. Purpose of BSN • Develop critical thinking • Ethical judgment • Personal sensitivity • Capacity for leadership • Eligibility for licensing exam • Eligibility for California Public Health Certificate

THREE NURSING PROGRAMS • DOHENY • Associate Degree in Nursing – 2 to 3 years • Evening classes, clinical classes on weekends • Pre-requisite: College Chemistry, English 1A, & General Psychology • Overall GPA of 2.5 or greater • Science GPA of 2.25 or greater (As of Fall 2007, the science GPA will be a minimum of 2.5) • Starts in Fall and Spring

  30. THREE NURSING PROGRAMS • CHALON • Traditional BSN Day Program – 3 to 4 years • Classes and Clinicals during daytime hours • 32 prerequisite units • Overall GPA of 2.7 or greater • Science GPA of 2.5 • Starts in the Fall

  31. THREE NURSING PROGRAMS • DOHENY • Accelerated BSN Program – 12 months • Bachelors Degree • 46 units of pre-requisite courses • Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater • Starts each May

  34. CHALON CAMPUS • RN TO BSN program – 1 to 2 years • Must be licensed / graduated from accredited college • Overall GPA of 2.7 • Validation of clinical competence form • N40 Roy adaptation model – offered in summer and spring
