  2. Product Information • Camtasia by TechSmith ($149 education price) Camtasia records *anything* on the screen along with audio. Anything includes PowerPoints, information typed in Word or any other product, digitized information from tabled or board, and any software such as an electronic calculator. • Mimio ($799 but have educational grants) Mimio allows for digitizing writing from any white board. Tablets could also be used for the same process.

Selecting Settings in Camtasia Studio to Minimize File Size • On the next few screens you will find the appropriate settings to minimize file size of video segments such as the examples just seen. • These settings are optimum for videos up to 10 or 11 minutes in length with a minimum amount of motion.

  5. Record Settings for Camtasia Studio version 3.x In Camtasia Recorder, Select Tools, Options and click the Streams tab. Deselect “Auto configure” at the top of the page to select a 5 frames per second Capture frame rate.

  6. Flash Production Settings After selecting “Produce video as..” and selecting .swf for a Flash video, on the next screen upper right, select a size to fit in “640 by 480”. Next press the “Flash Option” button on the upper left. The next slide displays the results.

  7. Flash Options Settings Select SWF, and below in the drop down box next to Colors: Select 16-Bit (High Color). This will reduce the file size by about 60% over 32-bit with visually no apparent difference. Also choose a Frame rate of 5.
