The Eastern Woodlands • Where did they live? • North & South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Hampshire, etc… • What was the land like? • Forests, lakes, streams, mountains • What was the temperature? • Humid closer to the coast; moderate in the mountains and in the northern regions; • What was the weather like? • High levels of rainfall • What wildlife did they have? • Deer fish, rabbit, bear, opossum, squirrels, raccoons • What vegetation did they have? • Corn, beans, squash, berries, nuts, trees has maple syrup

The Great Plains • Where did they live? • Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma • What was the land like? • Grass covered prairie, some streams and rivers • What was the temperature? • Hot summers; cold winters • What was the weather like? • Enough rain to grow grass for herds but not enough to grow trees. • What wildlife did they have? • Buffalo • What vegetation did they have? • Not a lot; animals used for a lot of different things

The Southwest Desert • Where did they live? • Arizona, Colorado, Utah and New México • What was the land like? • Rocky land with cactus • What was the temperature? • Hot and dry • What was the weather like? • Little rain • What wildlife did they have? • Snakes, sheep, goats, wild turkey • What vegetation did they have? • Corn, beans, squash, sunflower seeds, melons, pumpkins, fruit, cactus

The Pacific Northern Coast • Where did they live? • Southern Alaska, Washington and Oregon and down the Canadian province of British Columbia to the northern edge of California • What was the land like? • Forests, oceans, mountains, and rivers • What was the temperature? • Extremely cold to moderate • What was the weather like? • Heavy rainfall; snow in the extreme northern area • What wildlife did they have? • Sheep, mountain goats, deer, moose, bear, elk, fish, whales, salmon, seals • What vegetation did they have? • Red cedar trees, nuts, and berries
