  3. Website Ms. Dunn’s Webpage Updates • Frequent Please check the classroom website as often as possible! I will update at least once a week if not more. • Check often! Don’t miss out on the FUN!!! Please check the website all of the time so our wonderful kindies don’t miss out on fun activities.

  4. Assessments • We will be starting our flexible learning groups next week Sept. 4th • We have finished assessments this week and are working on placements. • Email soon with placement for flexible learning group • What is a flexible learning group? • Check the AA Website for a detailed explanation.

  5. Folders • Purple = Friday Folder • Sent home Friday and brought back Monday • Red = Reading • Blue = Math • Folder system is different then previous years

  6. Homework Reading Reading homework will be given once a week. There will be a packet of reading homework sent home. It is required to be returned the following week. Math • Math homework will be given everyday. • Students are required to return homework the next day for a grade.

  7. Behavior Expectations Treasure Box Ms. Dunn and Ms. Tyler will award prizes from the treasure box as we see fit. If you would like to donate prizes to our treasure box (small toys, party favors) that would be greatly appreciated. Please NO CANDY!!! How am I doing today? • Green = Great Day! • Yellow = at least 2 warnings, call home • Red= 3 Warnings, call home and potential visit to Mr. Smith.

  8. Food Snack/and birthdays Snack: NO PEANUTS OR TREE NUTS!!!! Healthy food (veggies, fruit, cheese, crackers) Nothing that requires a spoon Birthdays: NO CAKE OF ANY KIND Must be store bought with a ingredients label If you would like to bring something like pencils, erasers or party favors instead of a treat that would be WONDERFUL!!! Allergies • NO PEANUTS or TREE NUT Products for snack or Birthdays • If you have a child with allergies, PLEASE bring in food that can be stored in the classroom for special occasions.

  9. Personal Belongings • Please label EVERYTHING your child brings into the classroom! (coats, sweaters, water bottle, lunch bag, gloves, shoes, boots, hats, etc.) • If something is lost, teachers will not look for the item. In Kindergarten we expect the students to take responsibility for their belongings. Please do not email Kindergarten teachers about lost items. We will keep an eye our for lost items, but we can not go on a hunt for them. • We will have a lost and found in the classroom. • Please do NOT bring toys to school. • If they accidently come to school and are out of the backpack, I will hold on to them until the end of the day and it will be handed to parents at the end of the day.

  10. Communication Best to contact Ms. Dunnthrough email: sdunn@americanacademyk8.org Please understand that I have 2 classes of parents and receive several emails a day. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible, but I will be following the school policy of 48 hours to get back to you. Angry Emails- PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANGRY EMAILS!!!! Our children are too important to email about. If you are upset at me, please call me and I will get back to you right away. Things get out of hand through email and chances are it is a minor misunderstanding that can be solved better over the phone. Best to contact Ms. Tyler through email: rtyler@americanacademyk8.org

  12. You Can Donate MP 3 Players to Our Classroom (Found on Walmart Website These can be used for the same things! PLUS a Camera for picture projects, help our visual learners and MUCH MUCH MORE!!! Classroom goal of at least 2 (one for me and one for Ms. Tyler) These can be used for so many things! Listening to reading, word fluency(with the voice recorder) , practice Spalding Phonograms, school projects, etc. Classroom goal of at least 7 (2 for Ms. Tyler) More would be welcomed!
