Listen and look. • (The teacher draws a map of Catalonia) • What’s this? (It’s a map) • Is it America? (No) • Is it Catalonia? (Yes) • Do you live in Catalonia? (Yes) • Do you know that Catalonia is bathed by the sea? (Yes) • What’s the name of this sea? (The Mediterranean Sea) • Do you like the sea? (yes) • Do you go to the sea in summer when it’s hot? (yes) • So now, imagine you are swimming or diving in the sea… close your eyes and think • about things you can find under the sea. • What can you see? For example, I can see a fish/We can find a …/There is a…/ • There are… • (Children answer as many times as they want, the teacher corrects if necessary and children repeat the correct sentence after him) • ACTIVITY 1 (Drawing Pictures) • (The teacher hands out a piece of paper) • Now, in this piece of paper, you have to draw only one of the things you imagined. The one you would like to know more about, ok? (yes) • (The teacher gives enough time for them to draw) • So George, tell me… what did you draw? (A dolphin). Very good, a dolphin. Can you spell it for me, please? (d-o-l-p-h-i-n). Thank you. Now… Imma, what did you draw? • (the teacher writes it on a piece of paper with 15 squares, one in each square. If he needs more to fill them all in, he can add some more and tell the children some others he imagined) • ACTIVITY 2 (Magic Game) • Do you want to have fun with all the living things you found under the sea? (yes). Then, look and listen carefully: I want you to choose one of this living things from under the sea but without telling me which one it is. Just tell your classmates and I will try to work out which one you chose, all right? You know, sea depths are misterious and magic!
