  4. GRANDMA MARIE’S PARENTS • Marie Christine Scholz was born in Kiel, Germany. Her mother/brother died in the flu epidemic of 1898. Her father died a few years later. She was raised by foster parents in Germany until immigrating to Startup, Washington in 1906 when she was 9 years old.
