Your advisor • Dr. Melisa (Misha) Cahnmann-Taylor cahnmann@uga.edu your advisor • Yahoo “Mishas_advising” listserv • Subscribe mishas_advising-subscribe@yahoogroups.com • Course, funding, publishing, job opportunities, and other listings • When do you meet with your advisor? • Once every fall for face to face academic advisement • Email for course approval in spring—send a list of 5-6 courses you are considering with #s, professor names, and any time conflicts. You may also keep and send an updated planning sheet to keep track of what has been taken and what needs to be taken • 15 minute face to face appointments scheduled as needed, Thursday mornings

Getting the Most out of your time at UGA • Research Assistance • LLED Teaching Assistance • Work Experience • Pre-K – 12 Teaching Experience • Volunteer Work • Making Community Connections Take advantage of the learning that can happen both inside and outside the formal classroom and all that life in a University town has to offer! This is your time to study, to learn, to be a student! Take full advantage!

Portfolio Defense (MAT, MED, EDS) • Written Portfolio • Open a google account • Notify advisor in the first week of term in which you will defend (Fall/Spring only) • Note contents on website including 5-7 project exemplars • Oral Exam (end of term, date varies and will be sent to you) • One portfolio project • Approx. 15 minutes • Faculty and Open audience
