  2. About the deserts The Deserts are very hot and dry. They are also cold in the winter. There are cold deserts. The deserts in the night are very cold, especially in winter. In the desert there is only little rain, but after the rain flowers grows and you feel that spring is now. Only few plants exist in the desert.   6. Introduction to Desert Animals Desert animals are mostly small but there are large animals. Not all the animal can live in the deserts. There are only some animals that can live and survive in the desert. Most of the animals that live in the desert live underground for several hours of the day.   7. Desert Animals • Kangaroo Rat (Jerboa) TheJerboa lives in a hole underground. It eats soft plants. It only eats at night and it only gets out at night. • Camel The camel is one of the desert animals. The camel eats the desert trees. It can survive for 1 week without water, it takes the water and it will store it in her hump.

  8. Desert Animals • Fennec Fox The fennec fox gets out only at night. It lives in many places and many different types of weather. It eats meat. • Oryx The Oryx lives in the Arabian gulf and in Africa. It eats all the green plants. Most of the hot days it stays under the shade of the tree.

  9. Introduction To Desert Plants Not all plants can exist in the desert because there is lack of water, and the heat of the desert. Some plants can exist in the desert these plants are the desert plants and the plants that don’t need lots of water. The desert plants drink water from the rain the comes to it.

  10. Desert Plants • Caper Plant (Shafalah) The Caper plant people make from it medicine. The caper plant grows up to about 60 cm upright. It can spread about to 300 cm wide. This plant has a very deep root system, which allows her to live in dry areas.

The palm tree grows dates. • Sidra Tree The Sidra tree lives in the desert environment especially in the Arabian Gulf. It can survive the desert heat and lack of water. It gives fruit in winter time it gives small fruits that are very delicious.
