  1. Reseach on Web caching (UvA) The Assigments Adam Belloum Computer Architecture & Parallel Systems group University of Amsterdam adam@science.uva.nl

  2. Aim of the assignments The objective of the assignments is not to provide a complete overview of the targeted subject, it is rather aiming at teaching the students the art of summarizing a provided research work. The students are expected to state correctly the problem, describe the methods, techniques, and tools discussed in the papers. Finally, they have to conclude on the results obtained, and future directions.

  3. Assignment 1 ???? Subject: Make an overview of the Impact of the emerging Technology on Cooperative Web caching Some references: • C. Lendemanann, and P. Waldhorst “Evaluating Cooperative Web Caching for Emerging” Technical report, No. 44227 Network Technologies • Microsoft Proxy Server “Cache Array Routing Protocol and Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0” white paper • Micro

  4. Assignment 2 Subject: Make an overview on the research performed in the area of distributed Web Caching Some references: • M. Kurcewicz, et al. “ A Distributed WWWW cache” in Proc. of the Int. WWW Caching Workshop, Manchester, June 15, 1999 • Zheng Wang “Cachemesh: a Distributed Cache System for World Wide Web” Bell Labs Lucent Technologies document, 1997. • N.
