  4. Spybot & Ad-Aware • Anti-Spyware programs • Also detect Trojans, Worms, and some viruses • Check for updates • Run in Safe Mode! • Use Ad-Aware 2007!

  11. Safari • Standard browser in Macintosh OS X • Safari 1.2 on Mac OS 10.3.4 & Greater (Panther, Tiger). If running less than Mac OS 10.3, OS upgrade is encouraged. Firefox The best alternative to IE • Browser Name / OS version:Firefox 2.0.0.6 on Windows 2000/XP/Vista • Support Level: not supported on Mac, but limited support on Windows; works with some issues • e-campus/J-Ess compatibility (part of PeopleSoft, which includes IS-HR, IS-Fin, IS-SA): Works, but has some issues • Works for e-Grading Grade Entry on e-campus: Does not work for e-grading • Works with eVA: No • Version 3.0 is on its way! Gran Paradiso (i.e. Firefox 3.0a1) has been out for months in alpha version.

  14. Internet xplorer It is useless to resist! Gotta have it…. You can’t always choose your browser, but you can . . . Choose Your Attitude!

Internet xplorer • THE RECOMMENDED BROWSER for Windows PC Users at JMU: Version 7.0. • Improved security over IE 6 • Configuration for Windows available at http://isapps.jmu.edu/tutorials/browser/ • IE 5.x NOT SUPPORTED ON MACs! • Browser Name / OS version: Ie 7.0 on Windows • Support Level: Premier JMU support for all (Note: not supported for Macs)
