IDWBL Project overview The project Innovative Didactics via Web Based Learning is a multinational cooperation between teacher trainers and researchers from Bulgaria, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Slovak Republic and Poland. The project is aimed at developing courses, which can be applied by teacher trainers to prepare student-teachers (or in-service teachers) regarding the use of WWW in education.   8. IDWBL Assignment database Web Assignment Database The WAD allows teachers to develop and retrieve web-based assignments for teaching and learning in several subject areas. Teachers and students who are registered as users have access to a whole range of functionalities, such as: adapting assignments, allocating assignments to students, storage of student products, feedback on assignments developed by colleagues and rating of student products. IDWBL Project outcomes ~ 200 teachers trained to use web resources in a clasroom ~ 500 Polish assignments stored in WAD for further use ~ 100 of these assignments translated to English What teachers learned: a method to develop and implement teaching and learning that encourages collaboration between students, stimulates the development of higher order thinking skills, and is a catalyst for interdisciplinary teaching and learning. Assignments are open ended and pupils have to work towards a product. ‘negotiation as part of the method’: often pupils can negotiate the product they have to deliver because usually there are some degrees of freedom.
