  2. PLAN • Open Data in Tableau Public • Create Visualization from dataset, and • Go Global

  3. Open Dataset in Tableau Public • Download the CAQUAKE and the CANCER Dataset from the prof Eric Suess Website. • Open Tableau Public and Upload the CAQUAKE Dataset . • Make Sure each Column has One Variable Name. • FIELD NAMES separates as • DIMENSIONS (Categorical) and MEASURES (Numeric).

  5. Create Visualization:Tableau selects possible Visualization when you select a FIELD NAME • DATASET 1: CAQUAKE • Graph : Drag Mag to Row Column. The Plot is shown below.

Locations of the Earthquakes • Select both Lon andLatand Click on the highlighted Map. • Select Dimensions on both Column and Row. - Displays the Longitudes and the Latitudes • Select LIGHT STATE BORDERS from the Map Options - Draws Border line between California and Nevada. • Choose black as Border .

  9. Finally • Places Names • Area Code Boundaries.

  10. Go Global • Create New Dashboard by clicking on the SHEET TAB and select New Dashboard. • The Dashboard keep track of all the worksheets prepared. • Drag the Named Worksheet into the Dashboard one after the other • Edit the TITLE , SIZE

  11. Save • File • Save to Web. • Create an Account first • Select Any of the Icons , Facebook, twitter etc • Share with your friends

  12. Dataset 2 • Upload Cancer Dataset • Identify the Dataset and Inspect the Field Names • Drag Mortality to Row Column- Check the Highlighted plot

  14. Mortality Rate • Drag the Ratio to Row Column • Click on the Highlighted Graph • To see the color – Drag Ratio to the COLOR section and Select From the colors available. • Right click on the highest bar annotate it.

  16. Share • Create a New Dashboard • Arrange your Graphs • Edit and SAVE to WEB • Share with friends on Facebook ,twitter and Blog
