  1. 20 - 24 May 2019, Trieste, Italy Sensitivity of the ionosphere parameters long-term variations and its irregular structures in the Caucasus on geomagnetic activity Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory Tbilisi, Georgia Goderdzi DIDEBULIDZE

  2. Determine of ionosphere sensitivity on geomagnetic events in the Caucasus -The sensitivity of long-term trends of hmF2, NmF2 and I630on geomagnetic activity. -Annual and inter-annual variations. • The irregular structures of the ionosphere • F2 region observed during geomagnetic • disturbances (TIDs, TADs) • Data set: • Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory • the oxygen red 630.0 nm and • the green 557.7nm line intensities , • Tbilisi ionosphere station (41.65N, 44.75E) • –hmF2, NmF2 • Development: TEC, GNSS receivers data.

  3. Trend estimation in the upper atmosphere-ionosphere parameters Regression equation: Solar indices Didebulidze et al., IJRS, 2011 Bremer and Berger, JASTP, 2002 Bremer, Ann. Geophys., 1998

  4. Trend estimation in the upper atmosphere-ionosphere parameters Regression equation: Semi-annual variations Annual variations Geomagnetic variations Solar indices Didebulidze et al., IJRS, 2011 Bremer and Berger, JASTP, 2002 Bremer, Ann. Geophys., 1998

  13. Summary • -In the Caucasus the upper atmosphere-ionosphere parameters long-term trends observed from Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory shows its sensitive to planetary geomagnetic events. -The annual and semi-annual variation of these parameters also sensitive to geomagnetic disturbances; • The observed irregular structures in the ionosphere parameters like TIDs and TADs caused by atmospheric waves evolving in the thermospheric wind can cause regional peculiarities of its development during geomagnetically disturbed days. The close to real time monitoring of the TEC using the set of GNSS receivers data is important for revealing lower-upper atmosphere-ionosphere coupling processes and their specification in the Caucasus.
