  3. Today you will… Learn what college is a. Along with associated vocabulary Complete a word search about associated vocab. Play Jeopardy using your new vocabulary Watch presentations by your teachers about their colleges Complete an application to attend one of your teacher’s colleges

  4. Definition of College • col·lege(2 syllables) • noun, often attributive \ˈkä-lij\: a school in the U.S. that you go to after high school : a school that offers courses leading to a degree in a specified subject (A diploma is the paper award for earning your degree.)

  5. Colleges vs. Universities • Originally was the difference between a 1-4 year school (college) and 4-8 year school (university). • The terms are now interchangeable and simply mean a school after high school for higher education and degree granting.

  8. To Reinforce that Vocabulary… • Each student will be given a word search. • Each student that completes a word search correctly will be entered into a gift certificate drawing by the Guidance Department.

  9.
