Jesus – a model for christian life
John 14:6 “Jesus answered “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Acts 4:12 Peter states “Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved’.
Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came to them and said ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The resurrection of Jesus is one of the most fundamental and important concepts of faith for Christianity. Unlike the life story of Jesus, the resurrection is not a testable piece of historical fact. There is no eyewitness account of the process and no historical supporting evidence, but the idea of a resurrection is faith based. If Jesus lived after the crucifixion – then did he die? The empty tomb does not necessarily support or disprove the claims of the disciples. Regardless of historical uncertainty, the experiences of the disciples are accepted by Christians.
The death of Jesus is an invitation or even an instruction to extend a non violent response into healing and love for others following His example and teaching. This is most often described in the behavior change in Christians. Sine express a necessity to develop a future of reconciliation which includes forgiveness and peace for the world. This is become compassion is greater than violence. While all Christians learn that God is love, the story of the resurrection is the definitive story of the God od love and the revealed character of God with humanity.
