Slope-Intercept From3

Slope intercept from 3

Goal

  • Given a table of data, find an equation of the line in the y=mx+b form.

Step 1

Step 1

Write original equation: y=mx+b

Step 2

Step 2

  • Find the slope. Pick two points and plug them into .

Step 3

Step 3

  • Plug the slope in for m into y=mx+b

Step 4

Step 4

  • Check to see if x=0 is a point. If so, that y-value is the y intercept. Plug that number in for b.

Step 5

Step 5

  • Of x=0 is NOT a point, then we must find b. Pick any point from the list and plug it in for x and y. Then solve for b.

  • Plug b into final equation.
