Statement of the Problem • Over 2/3 of Americans are overweight or obese • In 2004, 32.2% of the population was classified as obese • In 2030, 42% of population projected to be obese (CDC “Weight of the Nation” Conference) • The thinnest state in 1990 (Colorado-11%) now has a higher rate of overweight and obese adults than the fattest state (Alabama-23%) did in 1990 • MORE WOMEN THAN MEN ARE OBESE
