The Vietnam War. "Whats Going On?" By: Marvin Gaye. Protests. Never before had so many people opposed the actions of the government. There was never so much hate for one's own country. Not since the civil war had the nation been so divided. Violence against protestors was not uncommon.

  2. Protests Never before had so many people opposed the actions of the government There was never so much hate for one's own country Not since the civil war had the nation been so divided.

  3. Violence against protestors was not uncommon Protestors would be beaten and harassed with night sticks which can kill

  5. Hippies were the rebels that were the sexual revolution and drug culture The Culture

  6. The College Students

  7. Protesting They learned that our government was corrupt so they retaliated.

  8. Some of the ways they retaliated was wrong.

  9. The government thought there were problems with the way people were protesting.

  10. There were consequences for the students’ actions.

  11. We were never going to give up. WE WILL LIVE ON!!!

  12. Protesting still exists today… Especially now with the war in Iraq…

  13. Protesting still exists today in many different forms… …and people go to frightening extremes protesting against what they believe is wrong

  14. Many different viewpoints are expressed and controversy rages…

  15. The civil rights protests are good examples of how good things can indeed come from protesting…

  16. Vietnam was truly an era of protest… It went to show that war doesn’t only affect the soldiers in combat. The folks at home were fighting a war all their own.

  17. What’s goin’ on? Marvin Gaye “What’s goin’ on” was originally created during the Vietnam Era and turned into one of Marvin Gaye’s biggest hits. It became the “mantra” for people all over the United States and elsewhere. People wanted to know “What was goin’ on??” The goings on in Nam were of unspeakable violence.
