  2. Memoirs are: • true • one type of narrative nonfiction. • an account of the personal experiences of an author. • written in the 1st person (I, me, my, our, we).

  3. Memoirs: • contain the feelings and opinions of the author. • give details about important people or events and explains their importance. • are in sequential order.

  4. Writing Prompts • Brainstorm! Jot down memories and experiences. • http://teacher.scholastic.com/writeit/memoir/brainstorm/fromlife.htm

  5. 1st Draft • Use your brainstormed ideas and begin writing your memoir in sequential order. • Don’t worry about spelling, grammar, or punctuation yet! (End product should be at least 5 paragraphs)

  6. Review and revise • Read through your memoir. • Revise your work to contain correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. • Use Editor’s Marks. • Indent Paragraphs !!!!

  7. Final Copy • Dot your i's, cross your t's. Fine-tune your memoir by making sure all the nitty-gritty stuff is in order. • You need an introductory paragraph, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Must have a heading and original title (do not use memoir as your title). Does NOT have to be typed.
