LABORATORY NOTEBOOK(Pre-lab) • TITLE AND DATE • OBJECTIVE • CHEMICAL EQUATION AND MECHANISM • Include the chemical equation from the top of page 199 and the complete mechanism from page 200. • TABLE OF PHYSICAL DATA • Include physical constants and hazards for 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde, 1-indanone, sodium hydroxide, ethanol, diethyl ether, and hexane. • PRE-LAB CALCULATION • Include theoretical yield calculation for the reaction. • PROCEDURE • Include a reference to the lab manual pages where the actual procedure can be found.
