  2. What is the TLC? • The TLC is a center where developmental math, reading and English students can come for extra help with DEV classes. We offer professional, drop-in tutoring.

TLC Hours and Contact Info • Fall and spring hours are as follows: • Monday-Thursday 10-7 • Friday 10-4 • Closed Saturday and Sunday • Summer hours are as follows: • Monday- Thursday 10-5 • Closed Friday- Sunday • The phone number in the TLC is: (937) 512-4506 • Website Address www.tlc.sinclair.edu

  4. Where is the TLC? • The TLC is located in the lower level of the library in Building 7 (L07). • We are south of Starbucks.

  5. Who are the tutors? • The tutors in the TLC are professional tutors who are experts in the subject matter they are tutoring. Many are instructors while others have pursued degrees in the content area.

Student Expectations What Tutors CAN do: What Tutors DO NOT do: • Tutors are available to assist students with work in DEV classes; tutors DO NOT do the work for the student. • Tutors DO NOT help with online or take-home tests. • Tutors DO NOT write essays or do homework for students. • Tutors can answer questions about assignments. • Tutors can work with students to grasp main ideas and concepts. • Tutors can work with students to formulate ideas for essays. • Tutors can assist students in learning studying, organizational, and test-taking skills.

Frequently asked questions • How much does tutoring cost? • Tutoring in the TLC is a free service. • How long can I stay? • There is no time limit in the TLC. • Do I need an appointment? • No appointment is necessary. • Can I choose which tutor I work with? • No, students must sit with whomever is available at the time.

Additional Info • The TLC website, www.tlc.sinclair.edu, offers supplemental material to help students in their classes. • For DEV math students, the website has instructional videos and worksheets to help students understand key concepts. • For English and reading students, there are worksheets and web links to help with concepts in those classes.
