  2. What is Graphics? Graphics are visual presentations on some surface, such as a wall, canvas, computer screen, paper, or stone to brand, inform, illustrate, or entertain.

  3. What is Graphics? Examples are photographs, drawings, Line Art, graphs, diagrams, typography, numbers, symbols, geometric designs, maps, engineering drawings, or other images.

  4. What is Graphics? Graphics often combine text, illustration, and colour. Graphic design may consist of the deliberate selection, creation, or arrangement of typography alone, as in a brochure, flier, poster, web site, or book without any other element.

  12. How will I get my GCSE in graphics?

  13. The final GCSE is based on two parts: • A major project • worth 60% of final grade. • This will ask you to design and make a graphic product. • A 2 hour written exam • worth 40% of final grade.

  14. In summary – What are graphics? ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ • A graphic is a visual representation of a word/s or occurrence/event • Graphics can be paper-based or electronic • Virtually all graphics today are electronic

  15. Why are they so important? • Eye catching image that captures a persons interest within an instant • Can be more powerful than text • Can be a representation of an organisation, e.g. a company logo or football team badge

  17. Starter Task Design a new toaster you have 5 minutes!!! When you’re done stick it on the board at the front! GO! Have you designed a toaster or drawnone!?
