  3. Each track should be at least 1200 meters long including 15 curves. • The modern two-man bobsleds are a maximum of 8 ft. long. • The runway for each track is about 285 ft. Distance

  4. A good bobsled has to take advantage of the physical forces that help the sled accelerate. • Acceleration due to gravity is the same for all bobsleds. • Air passing through the bobsled is called drag, which slows the sled down. Acceleration

  5. The sled’s momentum is it’s mass times velocity. • The more mass the sled has, the faster the sled goes and more momentum the sled has. So if there is a lot of momentum, the sled is hard to stop. • Bobsleds with more momentum can easily overcome the affects of drag and fiction. Momentum
