A Night of Deaf History Presented by: AIDB Sign Language Students Tuesday, May 9, 2006 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church (Fellowship Hall) 3614 Drake Ave. Students will provide refreshments. Deaf individuals have made numerous contributions in history. Find out who - received the "Godfrey Copley Medal" and has a College named after him? - attended Rutgers and founded the Society for Hearing Impaired Physicians (SHIP)? - over a 40 year period is credited with saving 907 lives! - patented over 1,093 inventions. - started the Battle of Wounded Knee. - was the first deaf pilot to fly coast to coast in 1947. - broke a world land speed record for the fastest quarter mile in 3.22 seconds at 396 mph. and much, much more!
