  3. Vocabulary • Gender Equality: men and women should receive equal treatment and should not be discriminated against by gender. • When did gender equality really start becoming popular in America?

  4. Vocabulary • Feminism: the believe that both genders should have equal rights • Chauvinism: someone that believes that their gender is superior to another • Stereotype: qualities assigned to a group of people depending on their gender, race, religious beliefs or sexual orientation

  5. Take a minute to think. . . • Where have you heard these words before? Why were they being used? • Do we still have people that are chauvinistic?

  6. . . . • Discrimination: the practice or act of unfairly treating a person or group of people from another person or group of people • Prejudice: a feeling of dislike for a person or group of people because of their differences

  7. Bell Ringer OUT • Take a minute to yourselves and think about what we talked about today and how we can end the use of these terms being used in a negative way.
