  3. Foundation Mission The mission of the Blount County Education Foundation is to promote academic excellence in Blount County Schools! Blount County Education Foundation

Special Projects • Contributions to each school’s Library Media Center – Over $170,000 total! • After-school and Summer Tutoring • Summer Read/Academy! – Summer reading and math program for struggling students • Reading Buddy Volunteer Program – 188 volunteers last year and 737 total since the program began Blount County Education Foundation

Special Projects • Recognize Blount County Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year • 2008-2009 Elementary – Lisa Ann Hargett, Hayden Elementary • 2008-2009 Secondary – Sheila Gargus, Appalachian High • Recognize National Board Certified Teachers • Special Grant Awards to Schools winning contests for payroll deduction and radio-thon - $4,100 this year and $28,800 total over the years Blount County Education Foundation
