Plot • Bankcrupt Bassanio borrows money from his best friend, Anonio, to marry a rich heiress, Portia, in Belmont. • Antonio has not money but takes out a huge loan for his friend, Bassanio, and offers to repay the creditor, Shylock, with a pound of flesh • Portia may not choose who she wants to marry, men have the chance to choose her.
