    1. Palo Alto College Go Green! ˇViva Verde! Faculty, staff and students working across the campus to Go Green! Presented to the Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees October 20, 2009

Palo Alto College’s Sustainability Goals Fostering environmentally responsible citizens Reducing solid waste/maximizing recycling Conserving water Reducing energy consumption/improving air quality Protecting natural habitat and indigenous wildlife Purchasing green supplies, food and equipment Supporting green construction/remodeling

    4. Eco-tourism students from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela help with gathering recyclables during PACfest 2009.

    5. ˇViva Verde! Highlights Created a Go Green! ˇViva Verde! webpage http://www.alamo.edu/pac/vivaverde

    6. Club Earth members, IALS Eco-Tourism students from Central America and ESOL faculty made posters to promote recycling.

    7. Reporters of “The Pulse,” Palo Alto’s student newsletter, write about the greening of the campus.

    8. Launched a volunteer-run recycling program that has rescued 36,919 pounds of recyclables

    9. Distributed environmental information to more than 10,000 community members during PACfest 2008 and 2009

    10. Recycling bins were stationed next to each trash can at PACfest 2009. District 4 Councilman Philip Cortez said PACfest was the first city event he’d been to that featured recycling.

    11. Dr. Stacey Johnson separates trash from recyclables during PACfest 2009’s Recycle Challenge.

    12. National finalist, one of 10 selected of 2,500 submitted, for a Green Effect Grant to begin a bike-sharing initiative http://greeneffect.nationalgeographic.com/idea/2536/?sort=finalists

    13. Future Plans Bike-sharing initiative “Greening” the college’s entire curriculum with Service-Learning emphasis Community garden Rain catchment and graywater irrigation “Ecológica” botanical garden
