  2. Listening • Students listen to me & to each other speaking in Spanish • They also listen to music, taped dialogs, narratives, radio broadcasts, podcasts…

Speaking • Students speak Spanish everyday as soon as they come to class (95%) • Students will make presentations on famous Hispanic people, art work, cities… • They will answer questions on a specific topic to prepare for the AP exam • “En el Café” chats • Dialogs • Phone calls to Sra. Berryman

  4. Writing Students write to practice grammar topics, vocabulary, verb tenses, idioms • Write essays on a given topic & they have a week to prepare it • Students complete comprehension exercises about the readings in the textbook • Write emails and brief dialogs • The AP students write brief presentations to prepare for the exam

  5. Reading • Students will read samples of literature from Spain and Latin-America We will read them in the classroom to improve pronunciation and comprehension • They will also read 2 books independently, answer questions for homework, followed by classroom discussions • We will read current event articles from different countries, recipes, and other authentic writings

  6. Culture • Students will be exposed to the Spanish culture through movies, music, pod casts, art work, food… • They will read newspaper articles and magazines on line several times a month • Students will prepare presentations about famous people, places, traditions…

  7. Hispanic National Honor Society Selection for membership is reserved for our top students and is based on a variety of criteria including an A- or above in Spanish 4 or higher, a cumulative High School GPA of 3.2 or higher, and continuing to study Spanish in the 2015-2016 school year. Induction ceremony is in October during 8th period
