German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) • German National Library for all areas of engineering as well as architecture, chemistry, information technology, mathematics and physics. • Mission: Specialist literature provision to academic and research communities, as well as business and industry. • TIB extensively acquires and archives literature from around the world with a particular strength in grey literature.

  3. Member of the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) • Joint funding: 30:70 by • German Federal Government • All 16 German States (Länder) • Centre of literature and information provision in Physics.

German National Licences for Physics • AIP Digital Archive (1930-2008!), DFG • Springer Online Journal Archive (1860-2001), DFG • IUCr Backfile Archive (1948-2001), DFG • Taylor & Francis Online Archives (1798-2000), DFG • IOP Historic Archive (1874-2008!), TIB • 2008: APS Digital Backfile Archive 1893-2003!

Primary Data/Scientific Data • Infrastructure for registration of DOIs for scientific data sets: • TIB =DOI-registration agency for scientific primary data as a member of the International DOI Foundation (IDF) • Value of the DOI system: combination of resolution, metadata and policy. • Now: Partially in the TIB-Catalogue, partially in catalogues of publication agents. • Goal: Metadatabase for registered scientific data. • Enable further information providers to include these metadata into their services.
