  5. 12 STEPS TO BEING (BECOMING) A (MORE EFFECTIVE) STEWARDSHIP PARISH

  6. 1. PRAYER Accessible church or chapel Prayer Groups Stewardship prayers and others as part of liturgies Exposition/adoration Begin and end every meeting and parish activity with prayer Rosaries/novenas

  7. II. Commitment Pastor Lay Leadership Other Clergy/Religious

  8. III. Stewardship Committee or Council Promote stewardship Responsible for other 11 steps Coordinate current ministries Six (6) members or more Evaluate current ministries Institute new ministries

  9. IV. Planning Stewardship Calendar Budgets Short Range Pastoral Plan Long Range Pastoral Plan Facility Usage

  10. V. Communications Bulletin Newsletter Bulletin Boards Electronic— e-mails, web site

  11. VI. Financial Reporting Active and Involved Finance Council or Committee Published Budget Detailed Annual Financial Report At Minimum Monthly or Quarterly Brief Summary

  12. VII. Hospitality & Welcome At Liturgies & Parish Events To New Members To Visitors Friend-raising Activities (Building Community) EVERYONE is on the Hospitality Team

  13. VIII. Education Every area and every aspect of the parish and parish life need to be imbued with stewardship. Including: Religious education. Adult education. School. RCIA. Liturgies. Youth ministry. Spiritual renewal. Parish staff and leadership need to be given a variety of educational opportunities, some of which include continued formation in stewardship—e.g., this conference.

  14. IX. Reaching Out to Those in Need If you expect, or ask, your people to contribute proportionately, then the parish needs to make a similar commitment. In other words commit a set percentage of the offertory to be given to the poor and those in need! Strive to impact four areas where need exists: 1. Locally. 2. Within the (arch)diocese. 3. Nationally and/or regionally. 4. Internationally.
