  3. 1. Active viewing It is essential to engage students actively whenever they watch video material … and also to introduce them to the content of each sequence before studying the language by giving them specific viewing tasks.

  4. 2. Vocabulary development - activities focusing on new lexical sets to be learnt though the sequence. review- activities reinforcing language already presented or learnt.

  5. 3. Grammar presentation - activities for presenting particular grammatical structures. review- activities reinforcing grammatical structures.

  6. 4. Pronunciation Activities focusing on sounds, stress and intonation.

  7. 5. Listening/speaking skills Viewing comprehension - activities focusing on the visual element in the sequence. Listening - activities focusing on what is said in the sequence. Oral composition - activities focusing on telling the story of the sequence orally. Speaking - activities focusing on structured presentations related to the subject of the sequence. Discussion - activities focusing on discussions about the sequence.

  8. Reading/writing skills Reading - comprehension activities based on reading materials related to the sequence. Note-taking – activities teaching or practising note-taking skills. Written composition - activities focusing on creative writing and/or summarising the sequence.

  9. 6. Cross-cultural concerns Cultural awareness - activities focusing on studying the cultural influences at work in the sequence. Cross-cultural comparison - activities focusing on the comparison between the culture of the mother tongue and the target culture.
