  • Problem n°1

    • We found a problem to communicate with the PC via the network.

      • Program was tested on a virtual PC and was working fine.

      • We discovered that another layer of software protection on PC side was added.

      • This problem is now fixed.

  • Problem n°2

    • We are able to communicate with the PC (to retrieve the current) but it crashes from time to time.

      • This problem is identified, it is a bug in a library (BE/RF). Has been corrected on 28 September.

    • Meantime we have tested another way to communicate with the gateway.

      • Tested successfully this night.

  • In parallel, the library for the Keithley is ready

    • We need to integrate this library to the IRSM program (2 days).

    • This will allow to compare our 2 systems NI-PXI versus Keithley.

  • We manage however to make a few measurement at several current plateaus:

    • During phase I: 100A, 300A, 600A, 900A (pyramid up and done)

    • Measurements are very noisy. Q7 gives a 1mV noise, Q10 gives a 20mV!!!

    • As expect Q10 is worst then Q9 then Q8 then Q7 due to long length of cables.

    • We need to reduce this noise level by a factor 100.

    • However, we can see a common pattern on the 3 DVMs.

    • I believe that with a sampling rate of 10Hz or 100Hz we can accumulate enough data to make a statistical approach to reduce the noise.

    • The strategy for data treatment will need to be carefully looked at, but we have experience from SM18 splice measurements and splice measurement on dipole in the tunnel to produce an automatic tool.

  • We have a new hardware and a new software, we need some time for testing the consistency of the measurements and limits of our system.

  • The problem of logistic (number of interventions, need of help from QPS for the consignation / deconsignation of the QPS) remains.

  • It is anyway worth to try to measure as many magnets as we can once the system is fully operational.
